Celebrating Gloria Sagun!

Mount View Lodge is proud to recognize Gloria Sagun, our Lodge Excellence Award winner, an honour made even more meaningful because it comes directly from the colleagues who work alongside her every day. Gloria’s warm spirit, exceptional work ethic, and dedication have made her a cherished member of the MVSH team at Mount View Lodge.

Gloria has been a full-time housekeeper with Mountain View Seniors’ Housing for two years. During her first six months, she worked a variety of shifts, days, evenings, and nights before settling into her permanent role as Night Housekeeper, while still stepping in to cover day and evening shifts when needed. Her flexibility and commitment have not gone unnoticed. As one nominator shared: “She is always willing to take another shift, day or night, even on short notice. She is a good team player, adaptable, honest, and she knows her job really well.”

When asked what she enjoys most about working at MVSH, Gloria immediately spoke about the supportive atmosphere she feels every day. “Good management, supportive workmates, and the appreciation that we receive from the management, residents, and coworkers” Gloria shares. She says that hearing “thank you” and “good job” regularly keeps her motivated and connected to the work she does. She also loves the balance that comes with working nights. The shift allows her to take her kids to and from school and be present for their extracurricular activities—something that brings her tremendous joy. Her nominator echoed this dedication, writing: “I know night shift is a challenge for her because she has a young family that requires her care at home… Gloria was a big help during challenging times. We are truly lucky to have such an amazing person on our team.”

When Gloria heard her name called during the Excellence Award announcement, she was completely surprised. “I wasn’t expecting it,” she said. “I feel each of us deserves to be awarded because we are all giving our very best to our job.” Her humility and sincerity are just a few of the qualities that make her so valued among her peers. Another colleague wrote: “She always has a positive attitude. I have never heard her complain. We rely on her for our night shift, and she has been such a big help during difficult times.”

Outside of the lodge, Gloria’s world revolves around her children. When she’s not working, she devotes her time to rest and to making memories with them. They enjoy walking their puppy around town, playing at the park, visiting the library and local thrift shops, eating at their favorite restaurant, and curling up together for movie nights at home. These simple moments keep her grounded and recharge her for the work she loves.

Gloria’s Excellence Award is a well-deserved celebration of her compassion, reliability, dedication, and unwavering positivity. Her colleagues said it best: “We are truly lucky to have such an amazing person on our team.” Congratulations, Gloria—and thank you for everything you bring to Mount View Lodge and the residents we serve. Your commitment inspires us all.
