Celebrating Bonnylou Brisbois!

If you’ve ever walked through the front doors of the Sundre Seniors’ Supportive Living Facility, chances are you’ve been greeted by the warm smile and quick step of Bonnylou Brisbois. We are proud to recognize Bonnylou as the 2024 Lodge Excellence Award winner at the Sundre Seniors’ Supportive Living Facility, an honour made even more meaningful because it comes directly from her peers!

Interviewing Bonnylou is a bit like trying to keep up with a cheerful whirlwind. Even during our chat at her desk, we paused more than once so she could answer a phone call or assist a resident. That effortless attentiveness, always present, always ready to help…It’s exactly what makes her such a valuable part of our team.

Bonnylou has been part of MVSH for 13 years, lending her skills to nearly every department before stepping into her current role as Administrative Assistant. Originally from Turner Valley, she moved to Olds in 1989 and later settled in Sundre to raise her family. Her roots may have shifted over the years, but her commitment to community has always been constant.

When asked how it felt to be nominated and chosen for this award, Bonnylou shared, “It’s more or less humbling because we ALL contribute something positive to the seniors here. I just feel honoured that they chose me after all!”

Her humility was on full display during the Staff Appreciation Event. As her Site General Manager described the character and compassion of this year’s award recipient, Bonnylou listened intently, unaware the words were about her until the very end. That moment speaks volumes about who she is.

Her colleagues describe her as “a ray of sunshine… always laughing, teasing, and brightening someone’s day.” They admire her strong work ethic, willingness to pitch in wherever needed, and her dedication to confidentiality and accountability. They also note how she openly acknowledges her own areas of growth and is committed to continuous improvement, an admirable quality that reflects MVSH’s values.

Bonnylou’s love for the residents and respect for her coworkers shine through in everything she does. Whether she’s troubleshooting a request, supporting a team member, or offering encouragement, she embodies the spirit of excellence that strengthens our entire organization.
