A Little Rain, and a Lot of Heart: The 16th Annual MVSH Foundation Golf Classic

Golfers arrived ready for the day, warming up with coffee, Baileys, and delicious breakfast sandwiches while checking in, browsing the silent auction, and visiting with fellow participants. Grey skies hung overhead as players made their way to their carts for the shotgun start, but bright smiles and positive attitudes were on full display.

Despite the cold and wet conditions, nearly every golfer stayed the course through the morning rain. It was a true testament to the dedication and community spirit that make this event so special. After lunch, the sun finally made an appearance, rain gear began to disappear, and a few brave golfers could even be spotted sporting short sleeves as the afternoon unfolded.

Participants enjoyed several great sponsor activations throughout the course. Thank you to Westview Co-op for providing snacks and a welcome place to take shelter from the rain, 8760 Expense Management for treats, refreshments, and fun giveaways, and Silver Willow Sporting Clays for sharing information about their venue and providing popular swag giveaways. Looker Furniture and Global Upholstery brought some extra

fun to the course with ladder golf and a showcase of their furniture pieces.

While the Hole-in-One prizes remained unclaimed this year, there was one very close call. Cory Noel of Vista Radio came within two feet of sinking a hole-in-one at the Olds Auction Mart-sponsored hole. So close!

As golfers returned to the tournament tent, the sounds of another afternoon shower could be heard outside, while inside the atmosphere was lively and energetic. The silent auction generated plenty of excitement, with several spirited bidding wars taking place throughout the evening.

Our emcee, Dan Butler, kept the crowd entertained and the program moving as guests enjoyed a delicious chicken and rib dinner prepared by the Ironwood Restaurant at Carstairs Community Golf Club.

Following dinner, it was time to recognize some outstanding performances and memorable moments from the day. Awards were presented for Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Ball in Water, Ball in Sand, Team Spirit, and Most Honest Team before the two most anticipated announcements of the evening.

The winner of the 50/50 draw was Shawn Jones of Tiree Project Management, who generously donated his winnings back to the MVSH Foundation. His contribution was a wonderful reflection of the generosity and community spirit that defines this event.

In tournament play, the runner-up team of Patrick Cassidy, Tyler Rosehill, Amanda Winters, and Rob Knight posted an impressive score of 7-under par.

The 2026 MVSH Foundation Golf Classic Champions were Gary Morris, Dan Stilling, Josh Dick, and Kasey Eichhorst with an outstanding score of 11-under par. Following the presentation of the championship trophy, the team wasted no time putting it to good use with a celebratory toast.

While the weather made for a chilly day, the support shown by our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners left us with warm hearts and a renewed appreciation for the people who make the work of the MVSH Foundation possible.
